‘Call to Odin’

Raven & Moon Necklace Carving

Ravens and crows have always connected with something deep within me. With their intelligence and their shadow-like presence, they are imbued with an enigmatic mystique. In Norse lore Ravens are associated with Odin. The Norse god was said to have two Ravens, Huginn and Muninn who flew across the world to bring him news. In this piece I imagined Huginn calling out his thoughts to Odin from the branches of the Yggdrasil, the tree that connects the nine Norse worlds.
