Stag & Moon

Reclaimed Mahogany Spoon Carving

Much of my work pulls on symbolic references from the past and from the mythology of many cultures. Both the moon and horned animals like the stag carry deep cultural and ritualistic significance; in many cultures the moon is associated with the feminine and the stag with the male. In this carving the antlers of the stag embrace the moon (as the bowl) and reflects a motif often seen in connection with Pagan lore.
