Tree Kuksa

Hand Carved Cup

To me, woodcarving is a conversation with the wood that I’m working with. A piece can start with one idea in mind and evolve as the wood reveals its’ particular character. This Kuksa began life as a simple cup but I soon felt that it wanted to be more and slowly the tree emerged, wrapping its’ branches around the bowl. I love this natural evolution.
